Ready to show off your kickin’ dance moves?

We are looking for individuals or couples to enter the first-ever WE Fest Dance Competition. We will bring the music and you bring 90 seconds of your best dance moves for a chance to win VIP tickets for 2023.

WHERE/WHEN: This will occur at 5:30 pm on Aug 4th, 5th & 6th 2022 at the Barn Stage with the finals dancing on Saturday, Aug 6th, 2022 after Tanya Tucker at about 7:10 on the main stage. The preliminary entry fee is $20/per person.

Contestants can register HERE, on the WE Fest app, or in person. Payment will be made at the time of the sign-in. Please arrive at the Barn Stage prior to 5 PM to sign the liability waiver, pay the entrance fee and receive your contestant number. The entry fee is $20 per person.

Daily preliminary winners will win:
All preliminary winners move on to the final round on Saturday, August 6th @ about 7:10 on the main stage

  • 1st – Country Club Pass for the rest of the weekend & $50 gift certificate to Drift Clothing Co.
  • 2nd- $50 gift certificate to JQ Clothing
  • 3rd- $20 cash

Final winners will win:

  • 1st place winner will be awarded 2 Green VIP tickets for 2023
  • 2nd place will be awarded 2 Reserved Seat tickets for 2023
  • 3rd place will be awarded 2 PIT passes and GA tickets for 2023

  3. Creativity
  4. Overall Impression

Judges for the preliminaries are as follows:

Thursday – Kiala Rae Velde (Northern Lights Dance Academy, NLDA), Zeke Fuhrman (Leighton Broadcasting), and Heidi Owens (lead singer from Hitchville)

Friday – Ta Fett (Next Level Dance) & Ray Fulcher

Saturday – Kendal Ware (NLDA) & Ella Langley

Judges for the Finals are:

Troy Lee Coleman III, better known by his stage name Cowboy Troy, is an American rapper and songwriter best known as a representative of the country rap genre. He is a member of the MuzikMafia, an aggregation of country music singer-songwriters whose membership also includes Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, and James Otto. He has released seven studio albums and one EP, including three releases on Warner Bros. Records, and has charted twice on the Billboard country singles charts.

Greta Marie Nelson is from Frazee, Minnesota and currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. She is a model and dancer. She has trained with some of the best dancers in the industry, has danced in the Hollywood Summer Tour in 2020, and in the opening number video for the Universal Studios Dance Awards in 2020. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Commercial Dance to expand her dance career. www.gretamarienelson.com

Lisa Bideau has been a presence in the region for years, having worked at KVRR, KFGO and, most recently, as morning anchor on The Valley Today with KVLY-TV Valley News Live. She was named “Best Anchor” in the 2019 “Best of the Red River Valley” awards. Lisa is currently a morning news anchor with WDAY.

 


 

Free 45-minute Daily Line Dance Lessons

Line dance lessons will be held on the Barn stage at 2:30 pm & 4 pm. There will be two classes held each day. Each day a new fun line dance will be taught by Northern Lights Dance Academy, ‘NLDA’ (from Frazee) dance teachers.

Kiala Rae Velde (assistant director at NLDA) has been dancing for over 24 years. She has been at NLDA for 7 years and previously worked in Las Vegas at the Fern Adair Conservatory of the Arts, which was named the top dance studio in Nevada. She has studied dance at Minnesota State University Mankato, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Point Park University in Pittsburgh. Kiala worked with Donny Osmond while residing in Las Vegas. She has earned top choreography honors at many dance competitions throughout Nevada, California, and Minnesota. She continues her education in dance by attending conventions. and is also a CLI Certified Instructor. She resides in Perham, MN with her husband, daughter, and son.

Greta Marie Nelson started her dance career at the age of 3. When she is home, she guest teaches for NLDA. She is from Frazee, Minnesota, and currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. Kendal Ware (director at NLDA) received a minor in Dance Performance and a major in business management from Minnesota State University Mankato. She was a member of the University Repertory for three years and performed in numerous shows. She has owned and operated NLDA for eleven years. She attends dance conventions annually to continue her dance education and has attended the Dance Life Teacher Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is a CLI Certified Instructor. She has also obtained a B.S. in Elementary Education.

Kate Colliton will be running the show at WE Fest. If you have any questions about the line dance lessons or the Dance Competition, you can send any questions or register by messaging Kate Colliton. Kate Colliton is currently an assistant director for NLDA. She was one of NLDA’s first students in 2006, an NLDA intern for 3 years and danced on NLDA’S elite competition team. She is currently in college pursuing a degree in Psychology. Kate loves to teach dance and choreograph for NLDA. She choreographs group pieces, duo’s and solo’s.
