150,000 enthusiastic country music fans turned out over three days to attend one of the nation’s premiere multi-day country music festival, the 34th Annual WE Fest, held August 4-6, 2016 at Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes, MN.
The star-packed lineup for this year’s festival included Eric Church, Kid Rock, Tim McGraw, Steven Tyler with The Loving Mary Band, Lee Brice, Billy Currington, Gary Allan, Joe Nichols, Montgomery Gentry, Granger Smith ft. Earl Dibbles, Jr., LOCASH, Amanda Watkins, Halfway to Hazard, William Michael Morgan and High Valley.
On Saturday night, the Festival announced that country music superstars Luke Bryan and Zac Brown Band will be two of next year’s headliners for WE Fest’s 35th Anniversary.
Music fans experienced many special WE Fest moments over the course of this year’s festival. During his set on Thursday, Eric Church noted that he “grew up” at WE Fest, playing a 2 o’clock slot the first time he performed at the festival, then the next time moving to the 5 o’clock slot, then the 7 o’clock – and this year as headliner. On Friday afternoon, Billy Currington popped by a local radio station’s camp and played a brief unannounced acoustic set, delighting the 150 or so fans that happened upon the impromptu performance.
“We are so grateful for the continued support of our ticket buyers that, year in and year out, make WE Fest the biggest and best country music and camping festival in the world,” said Dhruv Prasad, Executive Vice President, Live Events, Townsquare Media, Inc. “As we approach the 35th anniversary event, we are planning to deliver our best lineup ever, as well as working on continued operational improvements to the attendee experience. We can’t wait to see everyone again next August!”
The 35th Annual WE Fest will be held August 3-5, 2017.
